Tuesday, February 28th, Sydney Yarbrough and Jonathan
Moonen presented an hour long lecture/demo for the Houston
Community College Town & Country Drama Department. Sydney
began with a brief history of ARMA and gave examples of how
various misconceptions of swords and swordplay have infiltrated
film and theatre stage fighting. Ms. Yarbrough explained,
as well as demonstrated how and why these misconceptions are
wrong. Next Sydney, with the assistance of Mr. Moonen, presented
some basic ARMA techniques and how they can safely be incorporated
into basic fight choreography. The demo was concluded with
a fifteen minute round of sparring between Ms. Yarbrough and
Mr. Moonen.
